We made it folks – 2017 is finally over and while it was a mess of a year, there were some real bright spots in Geek Media. Genre entertainment continues to deliver amazing content even in this darkest of timelines, so we’re here to tell you what we loved most in 2017 and recap of our year long reading challenge.
This is not going to go the way you think.
Luke wasn’t kidding.
Probably the most talked about and divisive Star Wars film yet – this week we tackle The Last Jedi. We’re both very conflicted about this film and there’s nothing like geeky podcast therapy to grapple with our feelings. Might as well give our Force Awakens episode a listen as well, just to see how much a difference two years and two completely different movies makes.
We’re in a bit of scheduling limbo with Star Wars coming out today, so we’re rolling with another of our (in)famous Geek Potpourri episodes! Hear us chat about all the books, movies, television and games we’ve been geeking out about the last few weeks! And if that’s not enough, we go on epic tangents about reusable shopping bags and the hot singles of Stardew Valley!
THIS ONE GOES TO ELEVEN
Welcome lords and ladies to the grand amphitheater of House Podawan!
It’s pretty shocking we haven’t done a Game of Thrones / Song of Ice and Fire episode yet, right? The show is back for the penultimate season and the books are limbo, so why not do it now? Besides all things GoT and ASoIaF, we also geek out about the new Doctor and drop some withering shade on the horrible new Valerian movie.
It’s another one of our Geek Potpourri episodes where we talk about a whole bunch of things we’re geeking out about, plus any random tangents we may venture down. If you want to hear our thoughts Bomb Pops, an argument Pottermore Sorting, the terribleness of Iron Fist and of course more YARN TALK, then you’ve come to the right place!
Way too many years in the making, the Wonder Woman movie is finally here, and it’s smashing box office records and both fan and critical exceptions. You don’t need a Lasso of Truth for us to confess we loved this movie – even though there are some problematic elements we discuss as well.
Plus more pronunciation arguments, but somehow we don’t debate whether it’s Gal or Jal Gadot… or Jadot.
