The Young Podawans Ep. 41 – Legion

Hello friends! The Young Podawans are back with another super fantastic episode! Not only are we chatting about the brilliant new TV series LEGION, but we’re also geeking out about the Star Wars: The Last Jedi teaser trailer. And you know by now that we kinda freak out about anything new Star Wars related. Plus we talk about buying worms over the Internet.

The Young Podawans – Come for the geekery, stay for the worms.

Segment 1: What Are We Geeking Out About? (1:06)

Every week in the opening segment we discuss what we’re currently geeking out about! This week Kristin and Brian are both geeking out about The Last Jedi trailer (with bonus Brian knocking his mic over in excitement).

Segment 2: What Are We Drinking About This Week? (6:24)

Another regular segment where we discuss – you guessed it – what we’re drinking. Kristin’s drinking Lagunitas Brown Shugga and Brian’s drinking Bronx Brewing Spring Pale Ale.

Segment 3: Legion Discussion (13:58)

  • Plot summary of the series.
  • Legion in the comics versus Legion in the show.
  • Weird time displacement – looks like the 60s/70s. Flashbacks to David/Lenny look like the 90s. 80s music.
  • Experimental scenes and filmmaking throughout. Lots of artistic risks for a TV show.
  • Dan Stevens with his sparring English and American accents was awesome.
  • It was a mix of genres – horror/zombie movie, psych thriller, superhero.
  • We didn’t really love the love story between David and Syd.
  • But we did super love Cary and Kerry.
  • One really great villain and two maybe not so great villains.
  • Aubrey Fricking Plaza.
  • Cool use of a gender flip with the Lenny/Benny character.
  • The last episode and battle were a little anticlimactic.
  • Kristin was not as charmed by Oliver as Brian was.
  • Wtf with that post-credit scene… post credit scene?
  • This show compared to the Netflix Marvel shows we’ve watched.
  • Next episode – YOUR NAME!

Segment 4: Outro, Contact Info & Outtakes! (56:21)
